Terms of Use

The short version

Waku is a game of predictions you play with people you know. You make picks about shows, films, and awards. Picks lock, results get scored, and a leaderboard says who called it best. That's the whole product.

No money rides on outcomes

• There are no entry fees. Playing is free, always.
• There are no prizes, and nothing of value is ever awarded.
• Waku never holds, pools, transfers, or distributes money between players, and never will.
• Nothing you win or lose here has any value outside the leaderboard.

If people in your group arrange something among themselves offline, that is entirely between them. It has nothing to do with Waku, we don't facilitate it, and we don't want to know about it.

The one thing you can pay for

A season league is free for its first 5 players. If you run one and want more people in it, you — the commissioner, not your players — can pay $19 plus tax once to raise the cap to 100 players.

That payment buys capacity in the software. It is not an entry fee, it is not pooled with anyone else's money, it is not tied to any outcome, and it is never paid out. Your players are never asked for money. One-night pools are free and cannot be paid for at all.

Refunds

The seat unlock is the only thing anyone can pay for, and it's a one-time charge. There is no subscription, so there is nothing to cancel and you will never be billed again for it.

• Within 14 days:email us and we'll refund it in full. You don't need to give a reason.
• After 14 days: email us anyway. If the season hasn't started, or Waku didn't do what you expected, we'll refund it.
• If we can't deliver— the event is cancelled, or we shut the service down mid-season — we'll refund you without being asked.

Refunds go back to the card that paid, usually within 5–10 business days. Only the commissioner who paid can request one, because they're the only person who ever paid anything.

Email joinwaku@protonmail.com for anything at all — a refund, a scoring mistake, deleting your account, or a question about how something works. A person reads it.

You must be 13 or older

We collect an email address, so accounts are for people aged 13 and up. You confirm your age when you sign up. If we learn an account belongs to someone under 13, we delete it and its data.

Your picks and your pool

• Your picks stay hidden from other players until the question locks. After it locks, everyone in the pool can see them.
• Once a question locks, picks cannot be changed. This is enforced by our servers, not by the honour system.
• Whoever runs a pool scores its custom questions. Results for shared events are scored centrally so every pool sees the same answer.
• Results can be corrected. When one changes, the leaderboard recalculates from scratch.

Names of shows and films

We refer to shows, films, and series by name, as plain text, to say what a pool is about. We don't use anyone's logos, artwork, photographs, or footage. Not affiliated with any network, studio, streamer, or production. Waku never handles entry fees or prizes.

Fair use of the service

Don't try to break the lock, script mass sign-ups, or use the service to harass people. We may suspend accounts that do. We may also change or discontinue features; if we shut something down that you paid to unlock, contact us and we'll sort it out.

No warranty

Waku is provided as-is. We work hard to score correctly and lock on time, but we don't guarantee the service will be uninterrupted or error-free. Since nothing of value rides on the outcome, a mistake costs you bragging rights, not money.
